While I wouldn't go and then far as to call it a masterpiece, its very entertaining. As far as harem fantasy goes, this (along with the author's other works) are at the very height of the quality pile.

Mike Truk continues to surprise in a genre full of mediocre amateur writing and shallow plots. While I wouldn't become so far as to call information technology a masterpiece, its very entertaining. As far every bit harem fantasy goes, this (forth with the author's other works) are at the very top of the quality pile.
If y'all know annihilation virtually the genre, that may audio like I'm damning his piece of work with faint praise. I'm not.
This is genuinely a skilful volume. I strongly suggest looking past the generic sounding championship.
The plot appears at beginning glance to be simple and entertaining.
An upwardly and coming rogue was backstabbed past his father effigy. He wants to observe out why, and get revenge.
In doing so, he makes a bunch of friends (many of whom are hot women of various races) and grows as a person.
Simple, right?
Except not. There's a whole second narrative working abroad beneath the scenes.
As we get to know our rogueish friend, nosotros learn that he'south (view spoiler)[oddly lucky and persuasive (hide spoiler)] and this extends to his female partners. He seems to exist able to (view spoiler)[talk basically anyone around to his betoken of view. He himself isn't aware of this power, but its regularly hinted at in the text. Commonly when he pulls a Big Damn Spoken communication or turns someone to his side. (hide spoiler)]
Every bit far as I tin tell, he'due south basically a middling rogue with (view spoiler)[charisma and so high that it might besides be mind control. (hibernate spoiler)]
I'grand on the edge of my seat to notice out what people will think when the truth of their happy coterie is revealed. The main character's reaction well-nigh of all, considering he clearly has adequately potent feelings on the topic equally seen when a similar concept is explored through another character.
Suffice to say, I had a lot of fun reading all the grapheme interactions through this lens and re-evaluating exactly what these people are like in more normal circumstances.
In the end, I requite it four out of v considering information technology simply introduced too many interesting characters for the book length. The author avoided the usual harem fantasy trap of making the female characters bland and uninteresting, existing only to be some other conquest... but in doing so, has filled the book with fascinating and interesting people that simply don't have enough 'screen time'. I suspect this complaint will vanish as the serial continues.
A last note: In the final scene, where he 'discovers' that he'due south (view spoiler)[actually part Troll (hide spoiler)] I sort of scratched my caput. I mean, the pieces were at that place, just the (view spoiler)[whole demonic theme of his father (hibernate spoiler)] and (view spoiler)[his ridiculous charisma had me fairly convinced that he was some flavor of Incubus. (hide spoiler)]
Strengths:
GREAT fight scenes.
Interesting, well written characters.
A coherent, cohesive and interesting plot.
Weaknesses:
Leaves off at a very non-ideal point. The last scene reads like the penultimate affiliate of another book. A minor complaint.
Slightly too many main/secondary characters for a book of its length.
I fabricated it about halfway through the book. I didn't detest information technology, only I realized this story wasn't for me at about a tertiary of the way through. A couple of things happened and I only didn't feel like reading anymore. If it was shorter, I might have just pushed through. I picked this book up mainly because of the cover. Rating two.0 stars - DNFI fabricated it about halfway through the book. I didn't hate information technology, but I realized this story wasn't for me at about a tertiary of the fashion through. A couple of things happened and I just didn't feel like reading anymore. If it was shorter, I might have just pushed through. I picked this volume up mainly because of the cover. I never read the synopsis. Information technology wasn't until I started reading that I realized this is the aforementioned author that wrote the five trials. As it turns out I gave that book two stars also.
I was a trivial confused at first considering over again I picked upward this book solely based on the embrace and for the first couple of chapters I couldn't figure out what that moving picture had to exercise with the story. The story follows Kellick who is working equally a thief, he is in the centre of his trial trying to steal a seal in order to exist admitted into the Family unit of thieves. Things get incorrect but he is able to escape with his life and the seal. When he comes back to his people, he is betrayed and left for dead. He wakes upwards in the sewer/mud pit and is able to talk his way into getting some aid. After he is improve, he tries to figure out why he was betrayed. He besides has to pay dorsum the people that helped him.
The premise and the story were interesting. The Harem aspect of the story seemed out of identify. I thought the story would be better without information technology. Just like what happened in the 5 trials that made me upset, happened again in this story. (view spoiler)[ Kellick and the group he assembled are planning to have downward a grouping of guards and mage in order to get answers. They accept set up a pretty descent program to achieve this goal. Of grade everything goes to hell and they barely survive. The author went into a lot of detail for the plan. I ever look a little wrinkle in every plan or for luck to play somewhat of a part in the story. I detest information technology when the luck seems to be the only factor involved. I was excited near this book upward until that point, since I actually do appreciate listening about someones skill and planning. (hibernate spoiler)]
This author does terrible harem stories. I take read about angry sex, makeup sex, beloved, animalism, desire, taboo. The outset sex activity scene he wrote about though was something completely different (view spoiler)[ One of the women he is with is an assassin who is killing to protect her sister. She finds out her sister has been dead for a while and she was duped the whole time. She tells Kellick that she is nearly to lose it and she needs to feel something/anything good so she wants to take sex with him. How the hell am I supposed to experience about that? This is basically condolement sexual activity. Am I supposed to be turned on by this? There was no anticipation or lead up to this either. In fact all the sexual practice scenes are similar. Right before the attack on the guards ( minutes before). The dark elf takes him aside and starts to blow him, then mock him so he ends up throat F##cking her. What the hell was that about. The last harbinger for me was the half orc that grabbed him and wanted to F@@m him. What kind of harem story is this. There was no emotion at all, no buildup or anticipation. (hide spoiler)]
I was a lilliputian curious to find out why Kellik was betrayed just not enough to cease reading. I am not certain if the caption was amazing it would make upwards for the bug I accept with the story. This author is just not for me.
...moreThe book was slow to get into at first and takes fourth dimension to setup things but the last few chapters were freaking adrenaline blitz. I mean the activeness scenes revelations happened in last are heed extraordinary. Excited to read what happens adjacent. A worth read, lost one star considering writing way was little hard at the beginning and i have know thought whether it improved or I took a liking to writing slowly.
Nosotros are immediately thrust into the action with Kellik
Right from the first page y'all know you're in for a treat. The writing is excellent, thrusting the reader into a fantastic world of daring heists, thieves' guilds, intriguing urban center politics, and a shadowy realm of unlikely alliances and mortiferous betrayals. The world-edifice is a highlight here, with creative attention to the naming conventions of faraway places, religious sects, everyday items, and the classes of people that keep gild humming. We are immediately thrust into the action with Kellik, an able thief breaking into a place few would dare go, in an opening scene rife with action, suspense, and the lingering sense that something is nearly to go terribly wrong. Before long, we delve into the heart of the surrounding urban center and our hero starts on a journey full of difficult challenges and endearing connections.
A pervasive theme in this story, though not always obvious, is costless will. Yes, there are characters forcing their dastardly plans on unwilling others, but there'south another effect percolating in the groundwork that comes out in full-force mid-volume. It's an interesting have on… you lot'll have to come across for yourself. No spoilers!
The story features enough of action scenes with well-choreographed battles and difficult negotiations where non everyone comes away unscathed. Some scenes are gruesome and cruel, while others are a downright thrill.
Throughout his journey, Kellik allies with a series of astonishing women. These characters come together in ways that are both believable and thoroughly entertaining. Kellik's harem grows to include an impressive lineup for one volume: A healer. An assassin. A nighttime elf. A half-orc warrioress. And then much more! The girls all take unique personalities and motivations, too as kick-ass strengths and abilities.
The sexual practice scenes are explicit and neat fun, with each written to explore the unique angel and predilections of the girls themselves. This was a great start to an epic adventure. At present bring on book 2!
...more thanThis volume is very interesting to read after the five trials. You tin can meet some real growth with the author's style. Okay! Fourth dimension for another review! This book is very interesting to read after the five trials. You tin see some real growth with the writer's style. I think that the 'medievil' game of thrones style slang actually works really well. In fact the dialogue in general was top tier, everyone was believable with their script. The primary improvement over the last book was the main character. Really charismatic without veering into gary stu territory (though he does come shut). The sex and action is roughly at the aforementioned level every bit the v trials which is well written and engaging.
At present the problem with this book is easily the fact that the characters are really quite shallow. Beyond the primary character everyone is sort of i dimensional and tropey. Not to mention at that place are far too many characters for one volume, which means they get less of the sorely needed character development shared between them. The v trials had a lot of characters too but they were a lot more interesting than the ones here.
I am sorely hoping this volume series doesn't fall into the Wild Wastes mold f having a literal army of fuck buddies that are incommunicable to keep track of. This volume is very long, and so while it starts off very interesting, yous'll find it harder and harder to care virtually what is going on because there are so many people who you lot aren't invested in. Nevertheless worth a look though, has some very competent world edifice even if the exposition is a trivial rushed at times. This has the potential to be a fascinating world.
Overall it's solid three/5 just like the terminal book but for dissimilar reasons.
...more thanThe author has done a wonderful job of making this book unique and interesting. The characters are interesting and the writer has worked at making each of them different with their own quirks. The pacing was good and action scenes are well done. Overall I enjoyed it a lot and I highly recommend this book.
Fan-fucking-tastic....... An ballsy masterwork. I tin can't believe how much depth and world building was packed into this novel. Honestly; it can almost reads as a standalone. However, there is so much that can be expanded on in future volumes I'd be disappointed if I don't get a sequel. Once more. The MC is a direct beast, who grows to exist such. It's a natural progression, and each member of the harem adds to the narrative. More!!!!

...more thanOk and then initially I was disappointed because i wanted a sequel to the other book this author started forever and a solar day agone earlier he started this series. Only have to say that this new 1 i is fantastic. Really great premise with a cracking MC and lots of action and some adult content thrown in for practiced measure out. Can't wait for book 2 of this series.
Wow Mike Truk introduces united states into an heady new globe filled with intrigue, suspense, and drama that is equally captivating every bit information technology is exhilarating. I can't wait for book ii.

...moreAnnotation to author, if you want to write erotic fiction write erotic fiction but go out it out of fantasy fiction please.
Back to the rest of the book, the none sexual practice parts are fantabulous. I loved the story and the grapheme progression. The betrayed thief seeking answers, made a better person against his will, or at least without knowing it, and now wants to address the wrongs he once sought to be a part of. It manages to raise thought provoking moral questions, which make the main character more human being, more than chronicle-able. The plot also has him making mistakes, friends falling in boxing, or running away. Not everyone'due south perfect, non anybody makes it. This makes the tale more believable, more addictive, it makes action scenes come alive with potential and danger. In this the author is a genius, he gives you a lot of characters and fleshes them out enough that you are rooting for all of them not just the main character, then he allows one of the most mortiferous unstoppable indestructible of the characters die. Suddenly all bets are off, every boxing scene at present has you on the border of your seat practically willing your favourite characters to survive, just not sure that they will. It makes it come alive in a manner missing from a lot of fantasy books where you always know the good guys will survive and win. (Unless its Grimdark) If it didn't have the graphic sex scenes this would be my new all-fourth dimension favourite book.
SUMMARY
Addictive, well written, great plot, and the audio version expertly narrated. Should be on every fantasy fans must read list, just fast forwards past the insipid, pointless, sensational graphic sex scenes and endeavor and pretend they aren't there.
Showtime of all, I really enjoyed this book. It's dark and uncompromising, and the fight scenes are some of the all-time I've seen in a very long time! Tiptop notch stuff right at that place!

I am overdue for a review on this 1 since I've read it more than a month ago. But now that I'm virtually to review its follow-upwardly, I have to say a few words on this one. I'll try to do it without being polluted by the adjacent tome.Offset of all, I really enjoyed this volume. It'south dark and uncompromising, and the fight scenes are some of the all-time I've seen in a very long time! Elevation notch stuff right there!
The intrigue is nice and deep, if a fiddling flake over the top at times. The reveal at the end is very nicely brought nearly. Not earth-shattering, just still, satisfyingly surprising. High stakes.
Every bit usual, Mike absolutely kills dialogue for me! Superb, realistic to a T. If you only need ane reason to read this writer's books, information technology is for the dialogues. The support characters are quite interesting, even though they probably will blossom a bit more than in the side by side books.
Well, yeah, information technology's a harem, and yeah, I did fast-frontwards about of the sex scenes, fifty-fifty though I will acknowledge they were rather well written. It wasn't that big of a deal. The MC does tend to get distracted very easily by a pair of legs or tits, though. I estimate it's the proper name of the game.
What I also liked quite a lot was the fast pacing. All the book happens in just a few days, and shit only never stops hitting the fan. Love it!
To sum upward, a very good entry in its genre/sub-genre/whatever.
If you're into dark Fantasy, are not too faint of heart, and don't object to a guy having sex with multiple willing women, and so yeah, you should like this one.
4/5

Fun, standard fantasy globeThe activity moves fast, a little likewise fast and it weakens the attempt to add together depth to the major characters. The world itself doesn't endure every bit much but the ecosystem doesn't favor the development of human being beings, so much and then that I wondered about the arrival of humans in this obviously alien world. Geopolitical and economics are mercantile fantasy standard, which makes the world building easier, I imagine. It works and information technology gives a fair framework for virtually of the major characters and the sketchy history. The cross species procreation is weird but it's not uncommon in the fantasy realm, and so it gets a pass.
The sex activity that comes the mode of the primary graphic symbol is a chip much simply in the heat of the not-stop action and his age, besides equally the situations, cultures and personalities of his partners, it actually fits the story. It is distracting and a piddling overdone but it'due south not desperately written.
The story crams itself into a small-scale time frame and it surprised me every time the passage of fourth dimension is referenced. It explains the lack of graphic symbol evolution but highlights it at the aforementioned time. It'due south a launder on that bespeak anyway. Fun to read but the multiple powers, physical descriptions and almost harem-creation are flaws that either will get corrected or get worse. The dialectic (static or dynamic) will not be denied in writing or life, I think. Definitely reading the next book.

In that location were not real relationships betwixt the main character and his interests
Honestly nearly of the book wasn't terrible or great, I enjoyed some points and got irritated by others. The characters and the world were pretty interesting, story overall was pretty good, simply never actually dragged me in. Definitely I would call it a heart basis 2.5-3 star book, and I applaud Mike Truk considering this is a neat comeback over The V Trials and I promise to come across him continue his growth as an Arthur.-----
There were non real relationships between the principal character and his interests, it was just sex and I equally much as I liked some of the characters, I really didn't care if almost of them died. In that location could even of been a few relationships that developed but information technology felt like the writer didn't know how to handle them or was scared to commit.
The battles all started good, merely yous know if D&D when the DM makes an encounter way to strong and so he starts throwing yous bones so that the party isn't wiped. That is how the battles toward the end of the volume felt.
Finally, I really didn't care for the end. It was really cliche and was what I figured it would be from the beginning. The MC was all in daze and the bad guy is doing his monologue and really I was just ready for information technology to terminate.
...moreWhat on earth is that... Well, retrieve of the boilerplate fuckboy's weekly regiment 😂
Information technology'south a good story in my opinion, well-written adventure, overnice world building, I enjoyed information technology.

Picked this upwards on a whim because the outline sounded intriguing, only to read afterwards that it was a "harem" type book. What on world is that... Well, think of the average fuckboy'due south weekly regiment 😂
It's a skillful story in my stance, well-written adventure, overnice world building, I enjoyed it.
Was information technology necessary for the main graphic symbol to have sex with EVERY Adult female HE MEETS? No. It got to the indicate where I expected him to get seduced past the green woman in one of the terminal capacity, just considering... He looks at her? Will he kill her? Will he have sex with her? IDK man, it could become either fashion.....
I'thou not sure if he started out wanting to write a harem book, or it just ended up that mode, just most of the sexual practice seemed wholly unnecessarily - he could have stuck to a couple of scenes and and so focused on building emotional relationships with the rest of the women. The plot itself could accept carried this book without a problem. In fact, adding the spontaneous sex stuff made the women 1 dimensional because there'south simply and so much time with each of them and when a whole donkey scene is her grinding on his penis, personality doesn't really.... Shine through, you lot know.
Information technology detracts from the story in my stance, which is otherwise pretty cool.

I usually like my protagonists having an power (magic, etc) that they use in clever ways to fix a problem. I suspect that there will be a large reveal at the terminate / near the terminate, concerning our protagonist.
(view spoiler)[He heals faster than normal, and is quite persuasive, what is he? Some hybrid? Did nearly dying / on the brink of expiry activate some bloodline ability? Perchance the healer made him a vessel for the sunday God, similar that knight is a vessel for the hanged God? (hibernate spoiler)]
He also has girls being unable to keep their panties on around him (all simply the healer), is he some demonic succubus?
We volition meet, and I will know if I will continue the series.
Well my prediction was off. (view spoiler)[He is some type of special troll that I never heard of. One that can persuade people, forth with the regular healing ability. (hide spoiler)]
I might pick up the sequel, though I will have to accept into consideration how long it took me to end this book. I lost interest many times and was finding other things to practise.

Information technology did not beginning slow, and information technology kept up that fast and exciting step through the whole story. Sometimes it reminded me a little of D&D, but in a fun and really cool action way. The fight scenes were crazy and descriptive and I was surprised by how much I liked them.
The sex scenes were hot. Hands down. I liked that the scenes felt fairly natural (except the terminal ane, in my opinion... though I really laughed), and non similar he was trying to sleep with everyone. I will say I started to recollect "does he have a golden d or something?" Only who cares! I'yard excited to see where the relationships he has formed go in the next installment, as well as the story!
Crusade the ending... damn.
